The DIANI project is pleased to run this successful practice sharing seminar again. Please see below for details of the event:

This interactive session cuts through popular myths that exist in relation to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants living in Northern Ireland today.  The session will explore entitlements to work, benefits, education and health care, focusing particularly on the support for children and families.  For more information please contact Fiona Milligan, DIANI Project Manager, on 028 9089 1730 or by email on fmiligan@ncb.org.uk

Why attend?
To develop your knowledge of the myths and realities for children and families from ethnically diverse backgrounds in relation to entitlements to work, benefits, schooling and health care.

Who should attend?
Practitioners from; Health and Social Care, Education, Community and Voluntary sector or those with an interest in working with ethnically diverse people.

Programme/Agenda
Objectives for the Mythbusting practice sharing session:

Participants will

•   
Have definitions of Asylum Seeker, Refugee and Migrant
•    Have looked at the European Union and the different entitlements (work, housing benefits) for  
     migrants depending on which country they are from
•    Look at the estimated numbers of minority ethnic groups living in Northern Ireland
•    Have looked at numbers of school children listed as ‘newcomer’
•    Reflect on how they can bring their acquired knowledge to their workplace

Event details
The training will take place from 9.30am - 12.30pm and tea, coffee and scones will provided at the session.

The training takes place at NCB NI, Albany House, 73-75 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7AF

What does it cost?
£30 to all sectors.

Each training day is open to 20 delegates, and places are booked on a first come, first served basis.

Cancellation policy

All cancellations must be received in writing. In the event of a cancellation, a full refund will be given for one month's notice, a 50% refund for 1 month to 14 days notice and no refund for less than 14 days notice. Substitutions may be made at any time.
